Kingston, Jamaica – May
6 2014: Jean Lowrie-Chin and
Hubie Chin, owners of PROComm, have formed a new real estate development
company, PRODEV. The company’s first
project – Phoenix Central - will be a professional complex located at 2
Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10. The
construction contract was signed on Monday May 5, with Islandwide Construction
Limited, following the necessary approvals from NEPA, NWA, KSAC and the Real
Estate Board; ground-breaking is scheduled for May 19.
Phoenix Central was designed by architects Plexus Limited, while
Berkeley and Spence provided quantity surveying services. The J$280M project is a unique three-storey
design which will accommodate alternative energy solutions.
“Phoenix Central will be the future home of PROComm,” noted
Jean. “While we have grown to love our
current location of over 30 years at 6 Kingsway, we had invested in 2 Phoenix
Avenue many years ago with the intention of moving our offices there. We plan to
retain five of the 16 units.”
She continued: “As we saw the various residential developments
taking place on Kingsway, we decided that the time was right to take this big
step, so we hope to develop an apartment complex as soon as we move to our
new location next year.
Principal of Plexus Limited Bryan Morris says his firm is
delighted that the project is unfolding at a good pace: “Phoenix Avenue is an
excellent location, and we are proud of the work of our lead architect Hugo
Matthews who has created an excellent design that will become an iconic landmark
in this fast-developing area.”

and amenities offered have made it very appealing to investors.”
